Happy Hollidays and a Happy New Years!

Another semester comes to a close. The issues with the forum will be addressed over the break. Looks like I will have to install
a fully new PHPBB 3 forum and we will all have to create new logings for it.

Enjoy your break as we have a whole new setup of classes and projects waiting for you when you return. From all the staff to
the students of the 3D animation group of programs have a wonderful hollidays and a happy new year!

Looks like I have a major problem in the forum data base. I'm going to have to rework some things to get it all going again.
Unforunitly it has been some times since I have done a back up on it so posts might get lost as well as user accounts. I
will post here as soon as I have it up and running and do a damage assesment.

Welcome New and Returning Students

Welcome new and returning students to the 3D animation group of programs. This week should be a trying time as the support
staff are on strike. Please be courtious and patient with those that are on the picket lines and the staff that are in
Humber trying to keep the school up and running in their absence.

New students: Please read this page.. http://humber3d.ca/help.html
for information about creating a Humber3D forum account. The rules must be followed to the letter or you will not be granted
 access.

If you are still trying to purchase a computer for the course and are unsure what to get then speak to my self, Paul Neale (paul.neale@humber.ca) or
Corey Avery (corey.avery@humber.ca) about what you will need. We are heavily relient on fast and effective computing power in
this course so a good one is much needed.

Returning students: Welcome back and we look forward to another great year at Humber working with all of you.

Thanks, Paul Neale: Site Admin

Industry Screening Event was a great success

I would like to thank Terry on behalf of the students for working so hard to put this event together. It was a great
success and was well recieved by the industry guests. I spoke with all of them and some of the comments I hear were
"Much of the work seen in the demo reel was better then similar work done by the other colleges. Lance Lefort, Ark/Starz"
Lance went on to tell me that our students modeling and lighting skills are very strong and the course is producing some
 good quality artists.

Congrats to all the students that did the work and showed up to the event. I hope that it was well worth it for all of
 you.

Once again Terry, thank you for the great evening out.

The semester is over and marks have been submitted as of yesterday. This gives every one exactly 6 weeks less a day to contest
grades. Once the six weeks are over Terry is not able to submit grade change forms.

I will be monitoring the forum all summer and making up dates to it when images and sites are posted for the home page.
If your web site isn't up there already get it posted in the thread on the form and I will be sure to add it.

At some point the home page as we know it will change. I hope this will be happening some time this summer but I'm not sure.
Also I will be updating the forum to PHPBB 3, wish me luck, I hope that I don't destroy all the logins and posts that are
 already there.

Thanks, Paul Neale: Site Admin

Two weeks left!

Just two weeks left till the end of the semester. Be sure to have your projects in on time as the faculty only few days to have all
the marks semitted. Once the semester is over make sure that you check your marks soon to ensure that your grades are correct as
there are only six weeks to contest or have marks changed.

Terry and I would also like to welcome Guillermo Acosta, as the new Associate Dean, New Media and Information Technology. Guillermo
has been working closely with Terry to ensure that our programs grow and have the tools necessary for the students and faculty
to get the job done. We look forward to many more years building the 3D group of courses with you.

Humber3D home page changes.

I have made some changes to the layout of the home page. At this time the resources have been taken down and will be moved to
the resources link in a back page. Student pages have been moved up to the home page so they are more easily found by
companies trolling for their next hire. If your site is not listed please PM me on the board with your link and full name
so that I can make sure that it is added. The links are by graduation year so it you are planning on going to post grad or
you are in the three year diploma program also please let me know what year you are graduating in and I can add it to the
 correct group.

Please bare with me as I get the changes complete.

Call for your best images!

If you are a current student in the Humber 3D animation group of courses I'm looking for your best images to post on the
 student page and home page.

I need students to submit their work if they think that it is worthy.
Their name and course code that it was completed in should be in a simple graphic in the lower right corner.
DO NOT add any sort of contact information. The image size should be 1280X720 and can be a composite of several images
or showing maps and unwraps or what ever looks Fantastic. The whole piece must stand as a piece of art.

If you believe that you have work that has been some of the best for the semester you are in then please submit
it the thread in the Humber 3D forum here .
I will break the 800px wide limit rule in this thread only. So make sure that your image
is visible in your post so that I can decide if I'm going to use it or not by just looking at it.

First semester students, don't assume that your work is not good enough because you are not as far along.
I'm sure many of you have created some great work for the time that you have had so far.

Welcome new and returning students to Humber 3D 2010/2011

This year will be seeing lots of changes starting with a new three year program with all new course structures.
Terry, myself (Paul) and the rest of the faculty have worked hard building the new course to try and address
the needs of the industry based on feed back from our advisory board.

For the returning students there will be small changes in project descriptions from those before you but for
the most part things will run as they have been. I believe all the faculty are returning, sorry, I'm not going any where
so you will have to put up with me again, and our offices are still in M wing. Office hours will be posted on our
doors for Terry and I, as for the part time faculty you will have to ask them how best to get in contact with them
or use their Humber email accounts.

I would like to say good bye to the post graduate students that have completed their stay at Humber
and will hopefully be moving on to jobs in the industry. It has been great working with you all and the level
of work from you has stepped it up a notch from years gone by. Congratulations from myself, Terry and the rest
 of the faculty.

Another obvious change is this site. I have been working on it for some time but those pesky little students
are always asking questions and not leaving me the time to get it complete. I joke of course, your always welcome
in my office. I will be trying to get it complete in the next could of weeks. I have new code already but it has
bugs that I don't want to post on the site as of yet. This site now aligns it self with the rest of the Humber
web sites in look and feel but will be receiving features that will help us advertise you the student to the industry
as well as give you a place to get resources and information about the industry as a whole. There are several broken
links that I will be correcting soon as several of them were linking to the old site which has now been replaced.
Bare with me, it will all be up and running soon.

The Humber3D forum will remain as it is and continue to be used. Blackboard will also be introduced into
our work flows as well. We are now required to post all outlines on Blackboard and use it as the location for
all official documents. Humber3D forum will remain as a place for students and faculty to show their work, get feed back
ask questions and get help from their piers. A clean up will happen shortly on the board to ensure that old posts
that are not relevant are removed.

Welcome back!
Paul Neale
